Hammerhead Reef – Day 1

December 6th, 2008

This week I have started a new painting for a collector of my art. The request is for a painting very similar to Big Reef, but with a hammerhead shark as the main focal point. I start off with a very basic sketch of what the painting will look like. I can always change the placement of creatures if I wish, but this sketch will serve as a blueprint for where I want things to go. Also, I usually don’t get into too much detail in the sketches. In the actual painting there will be plenty of room to add wrasse, bassletts, butterfly fish and other reef creatures.

This weekend I will be putting the sketch onto a 48″x36″ gallery wrapped canvas, so keep checking back for more updates.
